1-Year vs. 2-Year Brake Warranty: Which Brake Job Is Right for You?

When you get a brake job at President Tire & Wheels, you choose between two options for pads and rotors. Both include parts and labour, and both come with a warranty. The difference is the parts quality and how long the warranty lasts. Here’s how to decide.

The two options (most sedans)

• 1-Year Warranty: $350 per axle. New brake pads and rotors, parts and labour included, with a 1-year warranty.
• 2-Year Warranty: $499 per axle. Higher-grade brake pads and rotors, parts and labour included, with a 2-year warranty.

“Per axle” means the front brakes or the rear brakes. If you need both, it’s two axles. Prices are for most sedans. SUVs, trucks and some European cars can cost more. We always give you the exact price before we start.

Choose the 1-year option if…

• You plan to sell or trade in the car in the next year or two.
• You don’t drive a lot of kilometres each year.
• You want a solid, safe brake job at the lowest price.

Choose the 2-year option if…

• You plan to keep the car for a long time.
• You drive a lot, like a daily commute on the 401 or between Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge.
• You drive an SUV or a heavier vehicle that is hard on brakes.
• You want longer peace of mind and fewer trips to the shop.

Why we don’t sell the cheapest no-warranty brakes

Some shops advertise very cheap brake jobs. Often, that means low-grade parts with no warranty. They can be noisy, wear out fast, or cause shaking soon after. Brakes are a safety part, so we only install parts we are willing to stand behind with a warranty.

What’s included in every brake job

• New brake pads and new rotors on the axle
• Cleaning and greasing of the parts that let the pads slide, so they wear evenly
• A check of the calipers, hoses and brake fluid
• A test drive when we are done
